Shoals Shelter

It is a different type accommodation from others at Burge. Basically being a beautiful camping/picnic area next to a bubbling brook just inside the gate to Deer Shack. It is a wonderful camping area for families as well as Boy Scout troops and the like. Or you may want to simply have a picnic there. 20’x30′ covered pavilion with two double decker beds next to a fireplace. Also includes a picnic table, sink (using water from a cistern), out house, and plenty of room in the area to pitch tents.

Rules for use of the Shoals Shelter We are excited to add “the Shoals” to our housing options, albeit a little different from our existing cabins. The Shoals was designed in hopes that Burge members will use it for picnics for small groups as well as overnight campouts.

Since it is somewhat remote and off of our daily maintenance routine, we ask you to observe the following rules:

–ALL PARKING MUST BE BEHIND THE CABLES. No vehicles are allowed down the hill in close vicinity of the shelter.

–Let Rachel, in our office, know when you intend to use it and whether you want a private party or are welcoming to others.

–In the event of an overnight or a private party, you may reserve the shelter. At this point, we are charging $100/use.

–Trash – there is a trash can under the sink. You are welcome to use it BUT you must take ALL trash with you when you leave.

–Water – DO NOT DRINK THE WATER IN THE SINK.

–Outhouse – Toilet paper is provided. If you need more it is in the large storage bin on the porch. Also, Paper towels

–Plastic knives, forks, spoons, and paper plates are in the bin — if you use the fire pit be sure that the fire is out or down to ashes before leaving.
