Aboriginal settlement on Burge lands existed thousands of years ago. The artifact collection displayed in the main house shows a variety of knife points, tools, projectile points, and other implements dating from 8000 B.C. TO about A.D. 1000. Most of these were found in one area of the farm, along a creek, suggesting a hunting camp site which may have evolved into a small semi-permanent village occupied by transient tribes.
